This site is just to show some information about me and my "work". The reason why I took 'portsonline.net' is quite simple. My nick is ports and 'ports.net' wasn't available ;)

I will use this site to publish some of my tutorials, documentations, papers and bugs that I've found. If you're searching for 'tutorials' like "how 2 h4xx0r iis" you're on the wrong page. My focus is more on tools like hping, wireshark (formerly ethereal), netwox, cain and similar tools.


Who are you? How old are you?

I'm 32 years old and working as a systemadministrator in a middle-class company. I think this should be enough for the start ;)

What's the reason that you tell us something about you?

These are some question people ask me sometimes. And I don't have a problem to write down these questions so that everybody can read it.

What are you doing if you're sitting at your computer?

I'm pulling lassos ;) No, serios. I'm working on and with things like (buzzword attack!) honeypots, sniffing, paketfilter, wlan, vpn, bsd, finding bugs and similar stuff.

And what are you doing in your free time?

I do the same like others will do (hopefully). I meet friends, read a book, drive one of my bikes (Hardtail, Fully), make music or just watch tv.

Tell me something about the operating systems you use/know.

The whole Windows family, Linux (Debian, Suse, WHoppiX), Solaris, AIX, OpenBSD, AmigaOS. Due to my work I can say that I'm a Windows pro. My fileserver is running linux (debian) and my paketfilter/router is running OpenBSD-current.

Tell me something about the program languages you use/know.

I worked, more or less, with Assembler, c/c++, Pascal, Oberon, vb(a), Java, JavaScript, Perl, HTML... Nevertheless I not a pro in any of theses languages. It's most of the time sufficient enough to make an exploit working or to solve a small problem.

Do you read computer books? Which one?

Of course I buy and read computer related books. Although you get every needed information in the internet it's sometimes just pleasanter to pick a book and read it on your couch instead of reading anything sitting in front of your pc. You can take a look at my computer related list of books here. And for sure I know that some of the books are not worth their money ;)

Please tell me wich Personal Firewall do you use.

None.

No, nobody needs personal firewalls. Read the Personal Firewall Security FAQ.

Do you have an antetype?

No, I don't have one. But I like to read texts from Felix von Leitner, Urs [Ayahuasca] Traenkner, Juergen P. Meier, Robin S. Socha and some others. I also have respect about what Marc Ruef did so far.

I found an error (spelling, linking, etc.) on your site.

Ups, that's bad. Of course I expect some spelling errors, because my english isn't that great. Nevertheless, it would be great to receive a mail if you find an error. 2004-01-12: I added a site where I can list all the user who found an error at my page ;) Click here.
